Artist Statement

This work brings a relic from an unknown world to life, causing the viewer to question if it is indeed an artifact from a mysterious civilization.

 

Artist Bio

J. D. Koth is a native Atlantan and sculptor. He works in a variety of mediums including clay, foam, wood, fiberglass, cement, metal, and reclaimed organic materials. He received his BFA in sculpture at Georgia State University and has since gone to work on numerous projects including: Art on the Atlanta BeltLine, Living Walls, a Disney feature film, and several gallery exhibitions. He has also been featured in media outlets such as the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and HGTV. His level of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and reliability has resulted in him gaining a reputation for designing and constructing distinctive exterior and interior sculptures. Currently JD is employed by Malone Design and Fabrication as Art and Exhibits Director and has private studios at the Mammal Gallery as well as the Metropolitan Lofts in downtown Atlanta.
