Artist Statement

Taking cues from the surrounding environment, Freeman’s mural reflects both the urban and natural landscape of the Atlanta BeltLine. She uses pattern-based networks of lines that grow like living organisms on the surface of the wall to represent the vibrancy and interconnectivity of our communities. The shapes and colors are informed by dominant features in the area: buildings, trees, signs, flowers, and people. In using the unique elements of the space as the inspiration for the abstraction, she takes the distinct pulse of the site and offers a space that deepens the connection between viewers and their environment.
