Artist Statement
“The House of Flowers” is an attempt to grapple with loss and regret and to focus on being aware in a moment. A moment just before it becomes a memory. Where everything is in its place.
Artist Bio
Maxwell Sebastian is a self-taught visual artist. His work deals with issues of memory formation, regret, and issues surrounding self identity in an interconnected world that is constantly in flux due to problems of income inequality and climate change. In 2012 he illustrated The Boviniad, a work of epic verse produced by Roguelikefiction. Sebastian has been nominated on two occasions by The Forward Arts Foundation for its Emerging Artist Award. He has participated in the Wonderroot CSA program. Since 2014 he has been a board member and art committee chair at Eyedrum.
