Artist Statement

Terminus II (2020) is a revisitation of the original art installation I built for the 2014 Hambidge Art Auction at the Goat Farm Art Center. Terminus (2014) visualized Atlanta’s transportation past, present and future and New York City subway tunnels. It was a multi-media installation created from light, ribbon, string, and video. Terminus II continues this conversation and conceptual dialogue by recreating the installation permanently on the Beltline, what was once the former railway corridor around the core of Atlanta, Georgia.

Artist Bio

Megan Mosholder has a diverse curriculum vitae. Most recently, she added an Instructional Design Graduate Certificate from Georgia State University to her educational background. Her skills include professional artist, project manager, instructional designer, consultant, program manager and educator. She uses all of these skills to offer a range of consultancy services that can help businesses with their public art acquisition and art planning needs while providing organizations with proposed solutions for effectiveness and efficiency.

As a professional artist Mosholder reacts to the social-political landscape through site-responsive installations. Her three-dimensional drawings, often enhanced by light, emphasize obscured elements within recognizable places correlating symbolism with lived experience.

A graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design with an MFA in painting, Mosholder boasts numerous awards from institutions such as the Foundation for Contemporary Arts and the Hambidge Center for Creative Arts and Sciences. She is commissioned by leading corporations including the Microsoft Art Collection and included in public art programs, museum exhibitions, and art fairs. Interest in her installations has led to various international commissions, evidenced by her inclusion within the European Cultural Centre’s 2022 Personal Structures exhibition presented during the 59th Venice Biennale and as a resident artist in Sydney, Australia, where she built an art installation at Delmar Gallery (2017). It is evident from Megan’s portfolio that site-specific work is capable of leaving a lasting impression on the viewer.

Her large-scale installations also express her tenacity. Following a September 2018 car accident where the gas tank ruptured and ignited, trapping her inside, she endured burns to over sixty percent of her body. While the event left indelible marks, it also provided new heights for her to reach.

Mosholder continues to create installations that relay her devotion to her work and the communities she engages. Currently, she resides in Atlanta, GA, and has worked as a full-time professional artist for thirteen years. She also continues to redefine her career and has recently added Artisan Program Manager to her repertoire. Mosholder has been advising companies such as RangeWater Real Estate on their project management needs, public art programs, and art acquisition while also helping to develop and manage their Artisans Building Communities (ABC) program. Having established herself as an expert in the field of a variety of creative arts services, Megan remains at the forefront of industry trends.
