Artist Statement

J. Alex Schecter is interested in representing the revitalization of the Atlanta BeltLine from a discarded relic of Atlanta’s past to a vital and exciting part of the city. The repurposed wood transitioning from a rough to finished surface along the course of its length is meant to emphasize the dynamic between preservation and improvement, creating a visual passage between the raw and the refined.
