Artist Statement

NextGen Artist x Beltline Project Description: The NextGen Artist x Beltline Project is a partnership created to elevate arts programming within the structure of NBAF and its partner schools. The collaboration gives student’s hands-on experience in transforming their schools, while working with a professional visual artist. In this program, drawing on the walls is encouraged!

Curriculum: Beltline Artists will work with and guide NBAF partner school students in creating an art installation for their school. For this project, Beltline Artists will facilitate the planning, execution, and completion of a mural in a NBAF partner school. The timeline of this project will be based upon mural size and Beltline Artist’s scheduling.

Workplace Development: Beltline Artists will have classroom assistance from college students from NBAF’s HBCU Teaching Artist Program. The HBCU TA Program is an initiative created to expose HBCU art majors (across all art mediums) to industry leaders, provide apprenticeships, mentoring, business and professional development, and workshops/classes. NBAF aims to offer transformational experiences that recognize, nurture and feature their unique talent in creative disciplines and industries. Visual Art students from the AUC (Atlanta University Center) will help Beltline Artists with guiding students to create school murals.
