Artist Statement
In this 15 minute piece, the dancers will wear nude colored, androgenous ‘smocks’ and their skin will be brushed with a white powder. The music will be a recorded piece in the symphonic genre, with string instruments and the piano, playing in a lilting, haunting melody, coupled with a soundscape of electronic, muffled sounds.
Artist Bio
Emily Cargill and Dancers (ECD) wants to broaden Atlanta dance on a regional/national scale – touring work to other cities as well as bringing professional dance communities to the Atlanta area. ECD creates work that artistically and physically pushes boundaries, exploring movement that is athletic, organic, intimate and real. Founder and choreographer, Emily Cargill, encourages collaboration and an ongoing exchange of ideas between herself and the company members.
