Artist Statement
Gnomon III, Progeny is a pair of sculptures designed to explore light and shadow pattern generation. They are based on a series of photographs that turn building facades into geometric patterns. The artist has been working with the photo series for twelve years, and the photos, as well as the sculptures, reflect his interest in Euclidian geometry, fractals, and the ways natural light is constantly changing.
Artist Bio
A native of Huntsville, Alabama, Mike Jensen has lived in Atlanta since 1984. He received his BFA degree from the Atlanta College of Art in 1987 and has since had the privilege of working for a variety of galleries, museums and artists. Jensen’s fine-art photographs have been exhibited many times, but he has become more interested in creating public works of art, particularly sculpture.
