Artist Statement
Misao Cates’s interactive installation is a display of expression and stories told through three-word inscriptions. Atlanta BeltLine visitors are challenged to express themselves mindfully in just three words onto a ribbon, and invited to tie their words to a post in the “grove” that will, in time, become Forest of My Three Words.
Artist Bio
Misao Cates is a costume designer. She enjoys working in collaboration with actors, audiences, other artists, and the general public. She believes firmly in the importance of art in daily life, that art is everywhere, for everyone, and in everyone. This belief inspires her to create interative projects that give opportunities for others to participate and express, and ultimately fulfill her vision. Her work has been featured in Art on the Atlanta BeltLine in 2011 and 2012.
