Artist Statement

This project activates the imagination of visitors by implying a fictionalized past event in a familiar setting; in this case, an escape of the animals from an exotic carnival‐esque zoo.

 

Artist Bio

Geoffrey C. Smith was born in Aurora, CO and moved to the Atlanta area when he still a kid. He received his BA from KSU in 2010. While there he worked as a museum photographer, model, and artist assistant to Matt Haffner. He also was a founding member of the now disbanded Cheap Paper artist collective and had brief associations with the collective Dodekapus. Through these experiences he gained a working knowledge of most fine art mediums. His work consists of multi medium photographic installations and surrealist drawings/paintings. Recently he has be taking his work into the realm of street art in the form of charcoal wheat paste drawings.
